Appellate & Trial Brief Assistance to Other Attorneys
Founded by a lawyer-journalist with more than 40 years' experience in both fields, PersuasiveBriefs.com℠ is a cost-effective service that combines mature judgment, legal knowledge, and writing/editing skills to help your firm produce tight, persuasive and well-written appellate and trial briefs. Every brief submitted receives the exclusive and personal attention of the service's founder, Richard J. Wall, Jr. There is no delegation to less experienced practitioners or personnel.
An honors graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Wall began his career in journalism at The Kansas City Star in 1966. He became a lawyer in 1976. Mr. Wall has practiced law since then, while continuing to write and edit, both in the legal world and also in the field of journalism and scholarly investigation. Since 2015, he has assisted other lawyers with their appellate and trial briefs.
Because court rules vary by jurisdiction, we don't examine the brief as to requirements with respect to physical form (such as type fonts, margin sizes and the like). We presume instead that your firm knows the court's rules with respect thereto. Nor do we “look behind” or analyze the cases themselves (presuming, again, that your firm has done so).
We instead focus on making sure that grammar, syntax and spelling are correct (because spell check programs do not pick up all errors). We also re-write sentences that are weak, meandering or unclear. We also will delete redundancies. Where necessary, we will confer with the brief writer on all the foregoing points.
And if we uncover applicable legal theories that have been missed (but that may be supported by the record), we will call them to your attention, so that lawyers in your firm can make the decision on whether to include them.
